Abstract

A distributed system consists of a set of computers varieties which is connected in Local Area Network (LAN). One of the problem in distributed system is load balancing which is the load of work that is received by each processor is varied. This will cause the minimal use of available resource and decrease the processing abilities. Therefore, a load balancing system is developed using queuing theory algorithm. This system will be able to distribute the tasks or loads to all of the connected processors in the system equally. Furthermore, students will get to understand more on the distributed system environment operations especially for the Network Programming Subject after the full development of the system. This system’s prototype uses the client-server communication model. Ethernet LAN and four computers are also used in developing and running this system. One of the computers will act as the dedicated server or central controller while the others act as the client. The methodology that is used to develop this system is the prototype methodology using the object oriented approach. The prototype for the system is able to show the load balancing process that uses the queuing theory algorithm and the results of the process.
