A library is a center of information for all of people. Library users are allowed to borrow, make booking, return and renew items by referring to librarians on duty. With the progress in the Internet technology, most libraries provide an online system that enables related information to be accessed easily and allows activities such as booking and renewing withoout the need to go to the library. Nevertheless, this type of system can only be accessed if the computer is connected to the Internet. Hence, to further enhance the service quality at libraries, a Prototype of Library user services system for Collection Management Unit Using VoiceXML technology has been developed. This project has chosen Perpustakaan Sultanah Zanariah(PSZ) as a study case with reference to the Collection Management Unit of the Information Services Department that manages activities at circulation counter. The reason for using VoiceXML, technology in this project is because it enables users to interact with a computer system through telephone. The idea of using this technology in this system arises because currently increasing rates of people are using mobile phones. To complete the system, web-based application for admin is also developed. This project was developed using prototype methodology that allows iteration phase and suitable for developing system in a short time. Although VoiceXML is a new technology for web based applications, it is hoped that this system will give good result.
