Abstract

Issues concerning organization's network security are gradually receiving much more attention each day. It is due to the fact that a better security level is one of the deciding factors, whether an organization is capable in achieving its business objectives successfully. But there are still several organizations which did not take this matter seriously. Eventhough the issue of network security level becoming more and more important now, but there's still several organizations which did not take this matter seriously. This is the main reason why the probability in having and dealing with technical problems are high and without any concrete actions taken to overcome these technical problems, it will continuously occurs. This Networks Security Level Evaluation system is based on Network Rating Model (NRM) is a system for evaluating the level of network's securily of organizations, concentrating on the local area network(LAN). It will test a ll4 major parts in the organization's network system. It is staff and user network, operational procedures, architecture of the network and network's physical atmosphere. Main objective is to develop a system which capable to evaluate the security level of the overall network's area based on Network Rating Model, thus able to provide the user with guidance on how to increase the security level of the network. The methodology used was evolution prototyping. Lastly,it is hoped that this system can provide important contributions in order to help and increase the awareness among users about the importance of high security level on the organization's ne twork, thus helping the organization to achieve its objectives.
