Iris is one of the most accurate, reliable and consistence biometric for identification and authentication purpose. The uniqueness of the iris pattern make it suitable for authenticate a person. Everyone has different iris even the twin also has two pair of different iris. However, iris recognition still has some problems that need to be solve. It is not easy to get full iris image as the captured images may contain eyelashes, eyelids and pupils. Besides that, in pattern matching process still have problem to reduce the error in match the interclass and intraclass image. The purpose of this research is to compare the effectiveness in using Hamming distance, Weighted Euclidean distance, Chebyshev distance, City Block distance, and r-Hamming techniques to match the particular image with the images stored in the repository.
