Abstract

Currently, applicant for college residence is still using conventional method to apply for college residency which is to fill in necessary forms. This method is no longer practical in IT era today. Thus this project has been developed to overcome the problems and weaknesses of the conventional system. The system will enable college registration and application status checking online. The system is also equipped with college application management that will ease application processing. The project has been developed using Prototype methodology approach along with the combination of web and wireless application technology. The purpose of wireless application used in this project is to expose users to this new technology which is becoming common nowadays. Security measurements are important factors to be considered in the project. Thus, cryptography with SHA-I and MD5 hashing algorithm combined with salt value was implemented for data security. The final product is an application called A Management and Checking for College Residency Based on Web and WAP Technology with Implementation of Security Technique. With this system it is hoped that users can be ensured for data safety. The system can reduce time for the college application processing and status for application can be known faster.
