Abstract

In this Information and Communication Technology(ICT) era, smart card is widely used in this country. Smart card is used in many sectors such as in banking, public transportation and Education. Hence, Students Management System for Sekolah Menengah Sains Tengku Abdullah in Raub, Pahang Using Smart Card will be developed to fulfill the requirement of education institution. This system will replace the current manual system and provides multi-functions system for students and teachers. Student attendance can be recorded systematically because students only have to slot their smart card at reader to record the attendance information. Besides that, hostel's outing management become easier because students can apply to go out by using this system while teachers can give the permission to the students through this system. Students can check the application's status either they can go out from the hostel or not. Library management also becomes more efficient whereby the students use the smart card to borrow and return the books in the library. Other function is debit card where students can buy things at school co-op by using the smart card. This system applied Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 software to develop the system and use Microsoft Access as database. The development of the system is based on collaboration of system development lifecycle methodology.
