Abstract

Natural hazard such as tornado, volcano eruption, earthquake, flood, tsunami and landslide occurs without any notice. Many of these natural hazards are related e.g. earthquake can lead to tsunami and tornado can result in massive flood. So without emergency notice from authority, prevention cannot be done to resist the disasters which lead to increasing financial and human losses. The purpose of developing the Web-Based and SMS-Based Natural Disaster Monitoring System (Sistem Pemantauan Bencana Alam Berasaskan Teknologi Web dan SMS) is to apply the information technology facility utilization to facilitate and manage natural disasters with borderless digital world. Apart from that usage of wireless telecommunication technology is rapidly increasing and same goes with text messages or better-known as SMS (Short Message Service). This system will also use SMS as a telecommunication field between systems, consumers and the involved authorities. All information on natural disaster will be soon delivered by system to registered consumers. This system has been developed by using Microsoft Visual Studio software 2008 which possess internal ASP.Net. Microsoft SQL Server software used to build database for information storage needed by system. The result of the project is Web-Based and SMS Natural Disaster Monitoring System (Sistem Pemantauan Bencana Alam Berasaskan Teknologi Web dan SMS) as field or centre to send disaster information to registered users.
