Expert Systems (ES) is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that makes extensive use of specialized knowledge to solve problems at the level of a human expert. An expert is a person who has expertise in a certain area or domain. That is, the expert has knowledge or special skills, that are not known or available to most people. Decision Support Systems (DSS) is a system that serve as a tool to aid management executive in decision making. It provides several modes of meaningful information, such as charts and text-based presentations. For example, it will be much easier for a manager to study the financial performance of a firm by looking at the charts, instead of reading crunched numbers. The trend has changed. People are no longer amazed with the computer's speed alone. What they are looking for is something they can use to assist them in carrying out their jobs and making it easier. They will naturally look for a user friendly and attractive user interface software. But above all, these people are looking for something that can support them in decision making, and even can provide intelligence in answering questions put forward by the user. This is where the Management support systems (MSS) or integration between Expert Systems and Decision Support Systems comes into the scene. Our aim is to produce a system which can cater for any application, as long as the system is being supplied with sufficient expertise knowledge. However, we limit our scope in this project to financial analysis. This system is designed and developed by using the object-oriented software development method.
