Abstract

Tourism is one of the important industry in Malaysia. Planning for a trip will become difficult for a tourist especially foreign tourist when there have many choices of tourism destination in Malaysia. So, this project will use artificial intelligence approach to build a online system in order to help tourists in choosing suitable tourism destination. The system have some characteristics of knowledge-based website that acted as a interactive tools where a series of questions will help visitors determine which tourism destination is best meet their needs. In order to develop and construct this system, prototype methodology are applied. Rule-based reasoning and depth-first search are used in the process of generating the result of decision as the output from the development system. Inference engine (backward chaining) is built by using programming language Java. It is hoped that this system will benefit the tourists in choosing suitable tourism destination in a short time and more efficiently.
