Nowadays, information system, science and technology grow very rapidly without any limitation. The way of communication of the management world is being dominated by the web based application. Web applications have their advantages especially in the management world that give great authority on time and quality. The web application also used the Graphic User Interface (GUI) that could improve the work process productivity which consequently convenient to deal with user because of its user friendliness. The development of the Artificial Intelligent and Bioinformatics Laboratory Portal System also used the web application as a medium to manage the information so that it will be more dynamic, systematic and efficient. Beside that, 'open-source' technology which is more open and easy to get was implemented during the development of this portal system. In this case, the process of management and maintenance of organization's information was work smoothly and it also keeps an additional space far the staff to manage their own information. The developments of this portal also use the Web - Engineering methodology which allows the phase repetition systematically. Next, the modeling of this system was used the UML. The open-source technology which was implemented during the development of this system use Java Server Page (JSP) as editor language. It also uses MySQL as software to manage the database and the Apache Tomcat 5.0 as the web server. The tools that was used during the analysis and designing is Poseidon and Macromedia Director MX will be used as tools during interface development. Hopefully, at the end of this project the system was developed may improve the laboratory information management so that it could be more dynamic, systematic, efficient and continually improve the quality.
