Abstract

The design and benchmarking of Beowulf system is to propose the best implementation between MPI and PVM in the certain cases. Research are conducted for operating system that support Beowulf such as Linux, Beowulf system, Message Passing Interface, Parallel Virtual Machine and benchmarking software. The main issue to be considered is the execution time and others in the Beowulf system. In this project, the parallel programming for MPI and PVM and the methodology for benchmarking Beowulf system is discussed. The result of this project will show the comparison of the best implementation, either MPI or PVM.
