Abstract

The purpose of this project is to develop an interactive simulation program of how page fault traps are generated using different reference strings with different page replacement algorithms.The reason behind the development of this application is to simplify the understanding of the implementation of virtual memory using demand paging concept. The simulation will be made graphical, thus making the algorithms easier to be understood. Application will cover the most commonly used page replacement algorithm such as LRU algorithm, FIFO algorithm and the counting algorithms. Implementation of this project will be done using the prototype model. This model is chosen so that the application itself will satisfy the user's need for graphical interfaces. Also, in designing prototypes to be tested by the user, it will meet the goals to make this application,user friendly and easy to understand. The application will be implemented using fourth generation programming language (Delphi) to obtain user friendliness and graphical simulations. In conclusion, this project is an excellent simulated reference for those who want to understand the implementation of virtual memory using demand paging in a computer system.
