Abstract

Vision impairments are pervasive in the general population, especially among seniors. It has become a central of importance in order to provide the multimodal interaction method to the visually impaired users in the web navigation. The system to be developed is an agent based spoken dialog system that allows the visually impaired users to access the tourism information via interne. This is a multimodal tourism web system which using speech recognition and text-to-speech technology to enhance the navigation of the visually impaired user. Tropos methodology and UML technique are being used to develop the system. The technology used in the system development is JavaScript, AJAX, Microsoft Agent and Google Map. Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 and Rational Rose will be used in the development. Last but not least, hopefully the system could bring benefit to the visually impaired users in the tourism web navigation.
